Students’ Guardians’ body appeals for peaceful conduct of Board exams

The All Manipur Students’ Guardians’ Organisation has appealed to all sections of society to ensure the smooth and peaceful conduct of the forthcoming Class X and Class XII examinations in the state.
In a press statement issued today, the organisation stated that the Council of Higher Secondary Education, Manipur will commence the Class XII examinations from February 17, while the Board of Secondary Education, Manipur will begin the Class X examinations from February 23. Describing the examinations as crucial milestones in the academic careers of students, the organisation stressed the need for a conducive and disturbance-free environment.
The organisation urged civil society organisations, student bodies, local clubs and Meira Paibi groups across Manipur to extend full cooperation and collectively safeguard the academic interests of students during the examination period.
Referring to the practice observed every year, the statement noted that all forms of entertainment activities, including Housie, are usually suspended 15 days prior to the commencement of examinations, and accordingly such activities have remained stopped since February 1 this year under a mutual understanding. However, it alleged that certain individuals with vested interests have reportedly been selling tickets and attempting to organise Housie programmes despite the ongoing examination season.
The organisation called for the immediate cessation of such activities and cautioned that it would not remain silent if any action detrimental to the student community is carried out in disregard of its appeal.
It further urged clubs and Meira Paibi groups in various leikais across the state to refrain from organising activities that may disturb students during the examination period.
