Students of Manipur College today demonstrated a protest inside their college campus demanding immediate solution to the present impasse between the government and the All Manipur College Teachers’ Association (AMCTA) which has been affecting their classes. As authority fails to give any positive reply some of the student gathered their turn hostile and started piling up the desks and benches of the colleges and tried to burn it at around noon today. However, a team of state police which arrived at the spot timely intervene it from turning the situation into hostile. Later, the students were allowed to talk with the principal of the college and the students agreed to suspend the agitation after he assured regular classes from Monday. However, the principal didn’t give any comment regarding the agitation of the All Manipur College Teachers’ Association (AMCTA). An agitator student while talking to Imphal Times over phone said that they were compelled to undergo the protest as classes has been remained suspended following the agitation of the AMCTA . He however said that the students’ demand has nothing to do with the agitation of the AMCTA, but the agitation is to demand regular classes in the college. “If the assurance given by the college principal fails to convert into action the students will not remain silent,” cautioned a student of the college.
