Federation of Haomee , (FoH) expressed strong concern to the repeated violation of rights of the Village Authority of Ichum Keirap Kom by some groups who claimed themselves as members of the KNO, presently ensuing suspension of operation (SoO) with the center and state government.
A statement of the FoH said that the KNO authority should immediately clarify on whether those people area cadres of the KNO. The FoH also appealed to both the center and state government to investigate over the matter as KNO is a signatory to the SoO pack.
The FoH said that Kom community are indigenous people of the state and is among the 26 ethnic people which have their own clans. Protecting the rights of the ethnic community is the duty of the Federation of Haomee and said that the Haomee will stand for the small ethnic indigenous community of the state.
The statement said that some Kuki community were provided shelter at the Ichum Keirap Kom during the Naga-Kuki Ethnic conflict (1992 – 1997). It added that there were incident of those Kuki who were given refuge harassing and assaulting the villagers of Ichum Kom Keirap including women and children. There were also incident of assaulting the villagers who claimed to be members of KRA but later clarified that the KRA was not related with the assault.
The FoH appealed to P.S. Haokip, the leader of KNO to immediately stop siding for the Kuki refugees at Ichum Keirap Kom while interfering to the matters of the Village authority.
