Government offices in the state including the Old and New Secretariat paralyses today as employees went on mass casual leave as a part of the agitation by the Joint Administrative Council of All Manipur Trade Union Council and All Manipur Government Employees Organisation (JAC of AMTUC and AMGEO), Manipur. As announced yesterday almost all employees of the state government offices including the Old and New Secretariat took mass casual leaves for three days. Some employees who came to attend office in the morning were stopped by the volunteers of the JAC of AMTUC and AMGEO. The agitation has been announced yesterday as government has failed to implement the memorandum of understanding signed between the JAC and the Government of Manipur on May 19, 2010.
Showing full cooperation to the demand of the JAC, Manipur Secretariat Service Association appealed the government to implement the memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the Government and the JAC.
The MoU includes implementation of the 7th Central Pay revision from 1/1/2011 and clearance of the arrears for all the employees from the date, reintroduction of the earlier pension scheme for the government employees, immediate halt to the privatization process of the various government department, inclusion of the disturb area allowance as according to the provision of the 6th pay as the disturb area act has been implemented in the state, clearance of the DA/DR in par with the central services along with the arrears.
