State gears up Independence Day celebration; security beefs up

Imphal, August 5: With just 10 days to go, the state government has taken up all necessary measures for maiden celebration of the India’s 67th Independence Day celebration. Security has been beefed up in all vulnerable places of the valley areas and Police commandos has been continuing search operation to verify presence of unwanted elements.Meanwhile, a high level meeting of the state home department was held with Chief Secretary PC Lawmkunga in the chair. The meeting minutely discussed about the various arrangements for Independence Day. As usual the main celebration will be held at the Parade Ground of 1st Battalion Manipur Rifles at 9.30 am. The state home department has taken approval of the Chief Minister for hoisting the National Flag.All arrangement has also been made for celebration of the Independence Day at Rajbhavan too. At the home function at Raj Bhavan the governor will unfurl the tri colour flag.State home department and the directors of Education for both Higher and School were also directed to make arrangement for participation to the ceremonial Parade & March Past.
