As a part of security measures taken up ahead of Independence Day celebration, District Police of Imphal West and Imphal East today conducted combing operations in various places. Police picked up more than 28 suspected people for further verification.A team of Imphal West District Police led by Additional SP, Imphal West District Police, Meghachandra and OC of CDO Imphal West Sanjoy cordoned the area from Ngakraba Leirak to Hao Ground, Chingamathak early in the morning at around 4 am and combed to find out militants from the area. The combing operation lasts till 6 am in the morning. At least 18 people have been picked up by Police for further verification in the operation. Out of them four are non-locals without any valid identification document, three are bailouts and the rest are people staying at rented houses in the area.Imphal East Policed also conducted combing operation at Bamon Leikai from Mange Makhong area to Nahabam Leikai.During the search operation several people were called out at Nahabam Basket Ball Ground and verified one after another.At least 10 suspected persons who do not have valid documents of identification were picked by Police for further verification.
