Dr. K. Romeo Meetei, In charge adventure Cell, Department of Sports and Youth Affairs, Arunachal Pradesh is conferred gold medal ( Highest State Award) during the 29th State hood day celebration at Itanagar for his excellent service rendered for the promotion of Adventure sports and Mountaineering in the State. The Award was presented by the Governor of Arunachal Pradesh, Lieutenant General Nirbhay Sharma (Retd) at a ceremony at IG park Itanagar. Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi was also attended the function as Chief Guest.
It may be mentioned here that, Dr meetei has been conferred the State excellence award in 2012 also for leading the successful Team Arunachal Mt. Everest Expedition 2011 and created history by producing two women Everesters namely Miss Tine Mena, the first women from N.E. states to scaled Mt. Everest & Mrs Anshu Jamsenpa, who scaled Mt. Everest twice in a span of 10 days. He has produced 3 Eversters from the State as well as he was the Leader of first IMF Mt. Gorichen Expedition at Indo – China Border.
