The All India Youth Federation and the All India Students’ Federation, Manipur State Council, have official launch a souvenir titled Comrade Hijam Irawat Singh (30 September 1896–26 September 1951) along with a public discussion on the role of Comrade Irawat in strengthening Manipur’s collective consciousness and his political journey at the Manipur Press Club, Imphal, today.
The event is being organised in commemoration of the historic Oliva Session held on December 29 and 30, 1938. Former Minister of Art and Culture, Government of Manipur, Dr Moirangthem Nara Singh, and social activist Lairenjam Sumatibala Aihnsor of the All India Youth Federation and All India Students’ Federation will attend as dignitaries. Acting President of the All India Youth Federation, Manipur State Council, Sorokhaibam Ingotombi, and President of the All India Students’ Federation, Manipur State Council, Chitaranjan Khonthoujam, presided over the function as presidium members.
Fitting floral tributes was paid to Comrade Hijam Irawat Singh. Several speakers, including national awardee Asem Ibobi Singh, N Singhajit of Manipur Loumi Lup, former national president of the All India Youth Federation L Sotinkumar Singh, and Dr Moirangthem Nara Singh, addressed the gathering.
