A sit-in-protest was held today at Wangjing-Lamding market by Meira Paibi members of five Lamding localities, club members, and women vendors, condemning the killing of two children by Kuki narco-terrorists in the Tronglaobi incident, the CRPF firing that killed three civilians in the aftermath, and the alleged killing of two Tangkhul youths after abuse by Kuki terrorists in Ukhrul district. Protesters also demanded justice from the government.
Organised by Youths of Lamding, the sit-in saw participants holding placards reading “Stop killing civilians, Repeal Section 43 of the 1967 Act, Eliminate Kuki terrorists, Disarm the mercenary CRPF, Withdraw Central Forces, We will protect our land.”A two-minute silence was also observed in memory of the deceased.
A Meira Paibi leader stated that the Tronglaobi incident and the killing of the two Tangkhul youths are deeply painful. “The so-called Central Forces, who came claiming to protect Manipur, are now acting as if they are harassing the people instead. We strongly condemn the present government’s conduct of waging a proxy war and causing untold suffering to the public,” she said.
Stating it’s stand,Youth of Lamding Convenor Laishram Joloit Singh said that it is unacceptable that both the Indian and Manipur governments have not provided any solution so far to the conflict since May 3, 2023, when Kuki narco-terrorists began attacking Meiteis.
He added that the Indian government using Kukis as a proxy force to attack Meiteis and other indigenous people must be stopped immediately, and that the Manipur government should also work to end it.
