Sit-in-protest, rally continues demanding ILPS

Over hundreds of passenger auto today staged a rally from Konthoujam public ground towards Imphal at the Imphal Jiribam roads demanding introduction of Inner Line Permit System (ILPS) in the state today morning. The rally organised  by Imphal-Jiri Road Auto Drivers’ and Owners’ Association was however stopped by a team of state police at Loukrakpam Leirak area at around 11 am today.On the other hands 18 different clubs located in between Kakwa Keithel to Manipur University, Canchipur also staged a mass sit-in-protest along the Indo-Burma road.At Wabagai area in Thoubal district, several hundreds of meira paibi staged a torch rally yesterday evening from Wabagai Lamkhai Bazar to Keirak,Thoubal District.The torch rally organised under the aegis of Inner Line Permit System in Manipur, shouted slogans such as “Save Indigenous People, Prevent intrusion of outsiders, Leaders should resign”, etc..Later after the rally, a meeting was held at Wabagai Lamkhai and resolved not to buy products from non-locals in Wabagai, Hiyanglam, Lamjao, Keirak and Tezpur areas.
