Anti AFSPA crusader Irom Chanu Sharmila who was freed yesterday wanted the people of the state to join her protest. Soon after her released, Sharmila Continues her protest at Porompat. Speaking to media persons she said she would like the people of the state to spare a little time and join the protest for repeal of the draconian Armed forces Special Powers Act. At around 2.30 pm today, Sharmila visited at Kwairamband Ima Keithel, where she was received by a large number of Imas. Later, a press conference was held at Manipur Press Club. There she said that she has been undergoing the fast unto death protest for the cause of the people and not for personal gain. She said she didn’t attempt to commit suicide but the fast unto death protest is a protest for repeal of the draconian act. As the court has released her after dropping the charges leveled under the 309 of the Indian Penal Code she said she will continue the protest until the demand is fulfilled. She further said that people should not make differences of the ILP protest and the protest for repeal of AFSPA as both the demands serve the same purposes for saving the indigenous people of the state.
