Security beefed up ahead of PM’s visit

Security has been tightened in and around Imphal West District ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Imphal on January 4, 2022 ahead of the Assembly Election.
Imphal West Police Commandos has been carrying out various security measures like frisking of the public in different parts of the district. House to house search operation and verification were also conducted in several areas. In addition to this, an advanced liaison team of 30 personnel from the Special Protection Group has landed Imphal along with BP vehicle in recent times onboard Indian Air Force IL76 transport Aircraft.
The state police have intensified vehicle checks, especially in Imphal area, and are keeping a close watch in the movement of people for any suspicious activity. Cordon and search operation were also conducted at Thangal Keithel and Paona Keithel under the supervision of Imphal West Commando OC, P Achouba.
