Second SIR Review Meeting held in Kakching

The second review meeting on the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the Electoral Roll, with July 1, 2026 as the qualifying date, was held today at the DC Conference Hall in Kakching District. The meeting was chaired by Electoral Roll Observer for Kakching District, Haobam Rosita, IAS.

The meeting was held in presence of Deputy Commissioner/District Election Officer Kakching, Angeline Renita R, IAS; Electoral Registration Officers (EROs), Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs), Election Officer and representatives of recognised National and State political parties functioning in the district.

Sharing an update on the ongoing SIR for Kakching district, Kakching DC/DEO, Angeline Renita R, stated that out of the 82,401 notices required to be generated, around 81,620 cases had been settled, with only about 138 cases remaining. She added that 32,876 cases under other categories had also been settled without the need to generate notices.

She further informed that the preparations for the electoral roll were underway and efforts were being made to ensure that all the eligible voters were included in the roll.

At the second review meeting, representatives of political parties raised queries on matters pertaining to the ongoing SIR and appreciated the support and dedication extended by the EROs in carrying out the revision process.

It may be mentioned that the draft electoral roll was published on July 5, 2026. The period for filing claims and objections remained open from July 5 to August 4, 2026; while the disposal of claims and objections is being carried out from July 5 to September 2, 2026. The final electoral roll is scheduled to be published on September 6, 2026.
