South East Asian Cultural Organization (SEACO), in a press statement appealed to the people of the state to discontinue argument on the date of Puya Mei Thaba.
The press statement signed by Laishram Kennedy Khuman, General Secretary of SEACO said that the historical events of Manipur are clearly written in Cheitharol Kumbaba and some books such as Wakhun Pomit cannot differentiate the events written in Cheitharol Kumbaba.
It said that the two different dates on which the people of the state believe that the Puyas were burnt according to Meitei Calendar are 23rd day of Wakching 1729 and 17th day of Mera 1732. Based on research SEACO will go with the 17th day of Mera, 1732.
