One interesting thing that Prime Minister Narendra Modi said at Madison Square Garden of New York city is that he will scrap out dated law one after another. Perhaps this is good news for we people in the North East India where people have been demanding repeal of outdated draconian legislations for over decades. Narendra Modi seems to the first Indian Prime Minister who shows concerns of several outdated law that has been making the people living in the similar saga of the colonial government. While delivering his speech to over 18,000 Indian American communities at Madison Square garden yesterday, the Prime Ministers also shrewdly invited the NRI community to contribute their share of responsibility in the making of the India. The announcement for visa on arrival for the American was perhaps a signed of realizing that future of India lies to the support of the world community. At the juncture it is worth remembering that people of this region had once been demanding for lifting of the Protected Area Permit System which didn’t allowed foreign nationals to visit certain part of the country without proper permission from the Union Home Ministry. The regulation is still in force in the region except for relaxation of certain sections for a term of one year.No doubt Narendra Modi is the first Prime Minister of India, who had begun his journey from a CHAI WALLA to hold the top post of the Country with absolute Majority in Lok Sabha after a gap of nearly thirty years. When he assured the Indian American Community at Madison Square Garden which goes live across the globe he was also assuring the people across the globe. When he said that outdated law will be scrap day after another there are reasons that every Indian should feel proud. It is a fact that almost every Indian feels that Armed Forces Special Powers Act is a draconian Act and is outdated. This legislation divided the Indians into two class of citizenship. One a privileged and another under privileged. Those living under the shadow of this act has been experiencing all short of state sponsored human rights violation unlike those in other part of the country. A committee constituted by the Indian Government had already submitted their report justifying the peoples’ demand for repeal of the act. As we considered Narendra Modi as the man of action there is reason for every Indian to believe that Irom Chanu Sharmila will start taking food.Let’s hope Narendra Modi’s ACHE DIN reaches in the erstwhile Kingdom of Manipur.
