The Naga Accord signed between the interlocutor for Naga talks RN Ravi and NSCN (IM) general secretary T Muivah last Monday, has been raising a lot of queries.
On Tuesday, RTI activist Kambam Seityajit of Khurai Chingangbam leikai of Tinsid Road , Imphal East district has filed sets of questions to make available of the details of the contents of the Naga Peace accord signed between the NSCN-IM and GoI on August 3. The RTI application was submitted to the Prime Minister Office of the Government of India.
Similar RTI application was also filed by Assam Pradesh Congress Committee secretary Bibhuti Bhushan Borthakur, asking the home secretary for details on the agreement, according to a report in an English daily. It also asked why the signed agreement had not been made public so far.
Earlier, the Congress and the chief ministries of Manipur, Assam and Arunachal Pradesh had questioned the government about the same.
Although the government can turn down the request of disclosing details citing national security issues, this time it looks like even the Home Ministry is not too clear on the details of the accord. This, despite Ravi reportedly explaining to Home Minister Rajnath Singh and Home Secretary LC Goyal that the accord was only a “framework” to proceed with further negotiations.
The Home Ministry had earlier on Friday sought to clarify details on the terms of the accord and any change in ceasefire ground rules currently in Nagaland, after it was approached by the Army for more information.
