Imphal, Mar 5:
RTI activist Kangbam Seityajit has submitted a memorandum to the Governor of Manipur, highlighting the poor condition of roads and bridges in the Imphal East district. He urged Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla to take immediate vigilance, conduct thorough assessments, and initiate prompt actions to address the issue.
In the memorandum, Seityajit pointed out that Khurai Lamlong Keithel is a significant commercial hub, serving as a major market, granary, storage facility, lifestyle center, and treasury for Manipur. He noted that the market has played a crucial role in contributing to the state’s Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) since its inception and is well connected with towns and satellite towns across the Imphal East district. He particularly emphasized that Tinsid Road, a vital lifeline for the area, is in a deplorable state, posing severe risks to commuters.
Seityajit further highlighted that the deteriorating road, filled with numerous potholes, poses hazards to both drivers and pedestrians. He expressed grave concern over the potholes on the “Narrow Bridge” over the “Kongba River” via Tinsid Road, calling them life-threatening. He urged the Governor to take serious note of the deteriorating condition of the road and bridge before any tragic incident occurs, especially with the monsoon season approaching.
The memorandum appealed for urgent intervention to repair or renovate the affected areas to prevent further erosion and safeguard public lives and vehicles from potential damages. Seityajit expressed confidence that timely action would not only ensure public safety but also protect critical infrastructure.
