RPF observes 47th Independence Demand Day

The proscribed Revolutionary People’s Front (RPF) observed its 47th Independence Demand Day today, marking the organisation’s foundation anniversary at various locations across Manipur and outside the state.
In a statement issued by Roben Khuman, Deputy Secretary, Publicity, RPF, the observance was reportedly conducted at units of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA), the armed wing of the RPF, as well as at different departments and stations of the outfit.
According to the statement, programmes were also held in areas under the jurisdiction of divisions of the Central Bureau, where party flags were hoisted and decorative items, including festoons and stars, were displayed. The events were said to have been organised with the participation of local supporters in certain areas.
The main feature of the observance included paying homage to the party flag and remembering members described by the outfit as martyrs who had laid down their lives for what it termed the cause of the motherland. A message from the President of the RPF, Mm Ngouba, was also delivered in connection with the occasion.
The statement conveyed a call for unity among the indigenous communities of the state and urged collective efforts towards development and prosperity in the region.
The RPF is a banned organisation under Indian law, and its activities are monitored by security agencies.
