Imphal, Nov 13,

Police activities on counter insurgency operation are not new for the people of the state. As many as 1500 suspected people were killed on alleged encounter and every story of the encounter were the talk of the town. Tactics changed after an organisation filed petition seeking justice for those killed in encounter and now the strategy seems to have changed.

Eye witness said the accused said to be an RPF cadre was arrested without much difficulties, but the police story on how the person was arrested is different.  A message received by this newspaper stated – “I have to report you that today i.e 12/11/2018 @ 4.00pm we received information from a reliable source of the presence of some RPF/PLA Cadre for their atrocities in and around Sekmaijin Village. Acting on the information I along with my party along with a party of 42 AR (E Coy & C Coy) of Moirang and Komlakhong respectively under the supervision of Shri N. Netrajit Singh Addl. SP(Ops) of Kakching and under the command of Insp. N. Tikendra Meetei, OC/CDO Kakching, conducted frisking and checking on the eastern side of Sekmaijin Bridge. While conducting frisking and checking, specific individual was spotted in a very suspicious manner. On his suspicious mannerism he was detained for verification. On verification he identified himself as one Sanasam Herojit Metei @ Lanthaba Meitei (31) S/o Tomba Singh of Lamshang, Lamdeng Khunou and active member of banned outlawed PLA organisation. He joined the organisation in the month of August, 2004 through one s/s Lance Corporal Binanda of their organisation. He got military training under army No. 2677 at Phailen. He holds the rank of Lieutenant of their organisation. So, from the above fact and circumstances he was arrested at 5.30 pm on 12/11/2018 on Sekmaijin Bridge Kakching District by observing formalities. And the arrested person is handed over to you for taking necessary legal action”.

Interesting, so far so good , the police are doing good jobs. But the way it has been reported needs some sense as it is easy to fool some people for some time but not all the people all the times.
