RPF blames VVIPs for selling the sovereignty of Manipur

Proscribed group RPF today said that speech delivered by the VVIP on occasion of the Khongjom Day celebration had showed that the so called leaders of the state has sold the sovereignty of the region as well as they are trying to strengthen the colonial policy of the Indian Government. A lengthy press statement of the outfit signed by Roben Khuman, Secretary Publicity, RPF said that Manipur lost its sovereignty in 1949 as India annexed the region by hatching a conspiracy with the then congress leaders of the state. The day April 23, 1891 has been observed in remembrance to the martyrs who had sacrificed their lives fighting for safeguarding the freedom of the kingdom against the British army and if the so called leaders of today’s Manipur if there is any sense of patriotism to the so call leaders they would have the courage to speak some truth, said the press statement. It said that many people continue to sacrifice their live for the cause of the freedom of the land at various battlefields.
While trying to prove that Manipur is still a colonial state, the RPF’s statement said that the merger of Manipur to the Indian Union does not have any legal validity and this has been declared by the National Convention of Manipur Merger on October 1993.
The statement further added that the area of Manipur during the statehood time was 22,356 square Kilometer and today the area of the state has been reduced to 22,327 square kilometer. It question about the whereabouts of the 29 square Kilometer. It added that protection of the boundary cannot be done by simply announcing to the public it should be done with heart and souls. On the other hand the outfit blames the Assam Riffles’ authority for losing the territory of the state.
On the statement given by the VVIP on the occasion of the Khongjom Day Celebration regarding the frequent bomb blast, the RPF statement said that this kind of politics on bomb has been when the agitation for repeal off AFSPA gains it momentum and when the government need to extend the disturb area status. It said that people knows the involvement of the security force who are in the pocket of the VVIPs when any such blast occurred. RPF further appealed the people not to believe to the propaganda of these so called leaders.
