Tamenglong, Nov 4:
Demonstrating a strong spirit of community solidarity, the Rongmei Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) led by the Rongmei Naga Council Manipur (RNCM) President KC Savio, with support from the Rongmei Naga Youth Organisation Manipur (RNYOM) leader Richard Kamei and the Rongmei Naga Students’ Organisation Manipur (RNSOM) representative Daichui Gangmei, have undertaken voluntary road repair work on the severely damaged route connecting Tamenglong Headquarters to Tamei and Tousem Sub-Divisions.
The initiative was launched in response to the deteriorating state of these essential roads, which had become a daily hardship for local commuters. “We could no longer stand by and watch our district headquarters’ roads fall into disrepair,” said KC Savio. “Taking action ourselves was the only way forward, and this initiative showcases the impact of community-driven efforts.”
Over the course of two days, a dedicated team of over 20 volunteers worked tirelessly to fill potholes, lay fresh asphalt, and restore damaged sections of the road. The completed repairs are expected to significantly improve road safety, cut down travel times, support local businesses, and underscore the importance of civic engagement.
The CSOs extended their gratitude to MLA Janghemlung Panmei of Tamenglong AC-53, who provided a JCB/Excavator to support the repair work. “We hope to collaborate on further improvements and ensure ongoing maintenance for these roads,” added KC Savio.
Local residents have expressed admiration and gratitude for the efforts of the Rongmei CSOs. “This is a powerful example of community spirit in action,” shared one resident. “Our civil society has made us proud by stepping up when it was most needed.”
