The Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal, inaugurated a new “Connecting Road of the First and Second Campus” today. The inaugural function was graced by Prof. G. Sunil Kumar Sharma, Director of RIMS, Imphal, in the presence of distinguished guests including Prof. N. Sanjib Singh, Medical Superintendent of RIMS Hospital, Imphal, R.K. Mecolt Singh, Deputy Director (Administration) of RIMS, Imphal, Sairem Sarat Singh, CAO/FA of RIMS, Imphal, Prof. H. Jamuna Devi, Principal of College of Nursing, RIMS, Imphal, and Dr. B. Praveen Reddy, Principal of Dental College, RIMS, Imphal.
Addressing the gathering, Director RIMS, Imphal, expressed that the new connecting road is dedicated to the public, staff, and faculty, particularly benefiting the students. This road will directly link the old campus of RIMS with the new campus, significantly reducing travel distances. He commended the Engineering Cell, RIMS, Imphal, for completing the project within a remarkable timeframe of 2 months. Plans are underway to construct footpaths and install street lights along the new roads at the earliest. Considering RIMS’ extensive area of over 300 acres, the lack of proper road infrastructure has been an issue, and efforts are underway to transform the landscape in the near future. He concluded by urging both the Civil and Electrical sections of the Engineering Cell to continue their diligent work for the future development of RIMS, Imphal.
Furthermore, the Medical Superintendent of RIMS Hospital, Imphal, highlighted the safety concerns previously faced by girl students walking on public roads, especially during late hours. He noted that the new road will address these security concerns and appreciated the Engineering team and the Director of RIMS, Imphal, for completing the project within a short timeframe.
The program was well attended by Heads of Departments and faculties, as well as officials from the Engineering Department, RIMS, Imphal, along with staff, students, and other officials of RIMS, Imphal.
