RIMS director’s room forcibly opened

The newly appointed director in charge of the Regional Institute of Medical Science Chongtham Arunkumar today broke the lock of the director’s room and assumes office today in the presence of district magistrate, Lamphel police personnel and staffs of the institutes at around 8.30 am. The door was forcibly opened as the former director of RIMS Dr. Shekharjit had locked it without handing over the charge to Dr, Ch. Arun. Dr. Arun was appointed as director in Charge of RIMS by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on August 26. Almirah containing documents inside the office room had been sealed by the newly appointed director in charge in view of the probable investigation to be carried out by investigating agency.It may be mentioned that former director Dr. Shekarjit had appealed to the Manipur High court challenging the order against the Union Ministry of Health and family Welfare. Speaking to media persons Dr. Arunkumar said that he will continue to hold the office until the Union Ministry of health and Family Welfare directed him to do so. Regarding the sealing of the documents found inside the office room of the director, Dr. Arunkumar said that it is necessary to sealed it as it would amount to tempering of evidence in case any investigation has been followed against the former director.
