Imphal, April 1:

In a joint statement issued on March 29, 2025, the KCP, KYKL, PREPAK, PREPAK(Pro), and UNLF, five prominent revolutionary groups from Manipur, addressed a social media post that had recently caught their attention. The post, purportedly written by a commander named ‘S. Khuman’ Min Tha Myanmar, was uploaded on March 12, 2025, with the headline “Treacherous Activities of General Anthony Shimray, Army Chief of NSCN/IM.” The groups clarified that the post contained unfounded allegations and was part of a wider attempt to sow division between the Naga and Meitei communities.
The statement explained that the post seemed to be a smear campaign against General Anthony Shimray, the Army Chief of NSCN(IM). It was noted that ‘Khuman’ is a common Meitei surname, often associated with one of the largest ‘yeks’ (clans) of the Meitei community, leading many to believe that the post was written by a Meitei revolutionary. However, the five revolutionary groups categorically denied any involvement in the writing or dissemination of the post, emphasizing that there was no individual named S. Khuman within their organizations. The groups also clarified that they had no operational or organizational ties with NSCN(IM), and they had no knowledge of its internal affairs.
The statement continued, refuting the accusations presented in the post, particularly those claiming that General Shimray was collaborating with the Indian Army and its allied forces against the Naga and Meitei fighters. The revolutionary groups pointed out that their ongoing conflict in the Manipur-Myanmar border area was solely with Indian security forces and the KNA-B, and they had not witnessed any indication that General Shimray or his cadres were working with Indian forces.
Addressing further allegations, the statement rejected claims that General Shimray had facilitated the return of Meitei militants to the Valley on a payment basis. It was stated that these claims were completely false, as none of the Meitei insurgent groups had participated in the Kuki-Meitei clashes, and no group had signed a ceasefire agreement in the aftermath of the conflict. The groups also dismissed the claim that NSCN(IM) was aiding the Indian Army in attacking their camps in Myanmar, asserting that such statements were fabricated, likely by Indian intelligence, to create division and confusion.
The revolutionary groups strongly condemned the social media post as a deliberate attempt to undermine NSCN(IM)’s credibility and disrupt the growing awareness about its alleged alliance with Kuki militants in the ongoing ethnic strife in Manipur. They stated that the post was part of a larger strategy by the Indian Army to create communal hatred among the indigenous people of Manipur and further escalate the ethnic conflict.
In conclusion, the five revolutionary groups called on the indigenous peoples of Manipur to remain vigilant and not be swayed by such divisive propaganda. They urged their fellow citizens to recognize these tactics as part of a broader plan by their enemies to destabilize the region and serve colonial interests.
