Resolve ILPS Issue Soon and Restore Academic Activity: FEGOCTA

Showing serious concern to the ongoing protest for introduction of ILPS in the state and its simultenous effect to the student community of the state Federation of Government College Teachers’ Associations, Manipur (FEGOCTA) said that the association is very disturbed by the delay in resolving ILPS issue by the government and mishandling of the protests.
A statement of the teachers’ body said that if the issue was seriously taken up by the political leadership with urgency and sincerity, the uncertainty and closure of educational institutions for 42 days could have been avoided.
On the protection of indigenous ethnic groups, FEGOCTA presented the suggestions along with documents to All Political Party Committee on ILPS, Manipur headed by Deputy Chief Minister on 18th September, 2014. FEGOCTA also condemned the violence occurred at Moreh on  August 18 and also other forms of violence. It appealed the law enforcing agencies to perform their duties without fear and favour. It said differences can be resolved through dialogue and democratic means by all and demanded the government to resolve the ILPS issue at the earliest with sincerity and restore the educational activities.
FEGOCTA also expressed acknowledge to the influx of illegal migrants since the abolition of Permit System in 1950. It said Data/document by the government on such entries and their impact on Manipur society is required first to provide reasonable grounds and justification for suitable laws and policies. It said new laws are required to protect lawful citizens, culture and identity of the indigenous ethnic groups, to prevent further demographic imbalance and possible disorder. The state legislature can pass a new law and amend existing MLR & LR Act, 1960 under State List of 7th Schedule under Entry No. 18 on Land for the protection of land rights of the indigenous ethnic groups. Labour laws can be made by state legislature under Concurrent List of 7th Schedule under Entry 24: Labour welfare.

We should be able to produce qualified, good and able administrators at the time of election. We should not cast our valuable votes in favour of contractor turned politicians, tainted politicians, dynastic politicians etc. at the time of election. Otherwise we may suffer never ending difficulties in various organs of our society.
