6 illegal Bangladeshi held; handed over to police

Amidst hue and cry for implementation of ILPS to check illegal migrants in the state, six persons, suspected to be illegal Bangladeshi who tried to enter the state without any valid documents were today rounded up by locals of Chingmeirong area at around 6 am. Those suspected illegal Bangladeshi were reportedly brought by an Assamese in a Night Super Bus, they were caught by the ILPS supporters who had been staging sit-in-protest in front Eastern Motors showing solidarity to the two persons including a class X going Vaiphei girl at Chingmeirong since yesterday.
On being asked where they come from, initially the illegal Bangladeshi replied that they were coming from Guwahati. However, on further enquiry it is learnt that none of the six non-locals were able to speak either Assamese or Hindi.
It is also learnt that all the 6 individuals are minor and are reportedly brought to Manipur for labour purpose by the Assamese agent identified as Majam Ali (37 years) from Kayakuchi, P.S – Sarthabari, Barpetta district.
The six suspected illegal Bangladeshi migrants and the Assamese agent were later handed-over to the Police posted at Chingmeirong outpost.
