A fox was rescued and handed over to the Forest Department by Yengkhom Rupachandra Singh, son of Yengkhom Kumar Singh of Laipham Loknung, Kakching Lamkhai in Kakching district today.
The animal, which has rarely been seen in recent times, was first spotted around 6:30 am when it strayed into the property of Rupachandra. It was safely captured and the Forest Department was informed. Acting promptly under the instruction of Dr. L. Jeeceelee, Divisional Forest Officer of Thoubal Forest Division, Sundar Huidrom, Range Officer of Kakching Forest Range, along with his staff, arrived and took custody of the fox.
The rescued fox had sustained minor injuries. After being given necessary treatment, it was handed over to the Manipur Zoological Garden at Iroisemba, accompanied by Wildlife Warden W. Ramchandra and staff of the Kakching Forest Range.
