Rare heart disease cured in Sky Hospital

Sky Hospital saved life of a two months old infant from a rare heart disease called Wolff Parkinson White syndrome which occurs only in 1 out of 1000 childbirth.Speaking to media persons today at the Hospital premise, Dr. L. Shyamkishore, first Manipur heart specialist with FRCD London, said an infant of two months old who was brought to the emergency department on Nov 05, suffering from a rare congenital heart disease called Wolff Parkinson White disease was successfully diagnosed at Sky Hospital. Shyamkishore further said the condition is rare and occurs in 1 out of 1000 childbirth. When the infant was brought to the hospital it had the heart beat of 291 per minute showing through ECG. The baby was immediately given treatment with the help of other two cardiologists and now the ECG report shows normal heart beat of the infant, said Shyamkishore. He further appealed to all the parents to be aware of the disease and get appropriate treatment.Mother of the infant, Yumnam Farah (29), w/o. Yumnam Indrajit Singh (37) of Thoubal Athokpam Makha Leikai said that the baby boy showed no symptoms of illness for the first 40 days. She added that her son was taken to different hospitals when he started showing symptoms of feeling unwell and avoiding milk feed. But no hospitals were able to give proper treatment and hence they brought the baby to Sky Hospital on Nov 05. Under the specialisation of Dr. L. Shyamkishore, the baby now is now recovered and going home today, said Farah.
