In a solemn tribute to the late Dr. Khashim Ruivah, former Minister of Manipur, Ukhrul MLA Ram Muivah, IAS (Retd.), has proposed renaming the Mahadev-Tolloi-Pfutsero road as Dr. Khashim Road to honor his contributions.
In his condolence message, Ram Muivah expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Dr. Ruivah, recalling their time together when he was in Bureaucracy as Commissioner and Secretary of Science & Technology he was the minister. He emphasized Dr. Ruivah’s instrumental role in the construction of the Mahadev-Tolloi-Pfutsero road, noting that he persuaded the then Chief Minister, W. Nipamacha Singh, to prioritize the project under the North Eastern Council (NEC). Additionally, Dr. Ruivah secured the No Objection Certificate (NOC) from S.C. Jamir, the then Chief Minister of Nagaland, facilitating the construction of the first phase from Mahadev to Tolloi.
Muivah described the renaming as a fitting tribute to the visionary leader, acknowledging his scholarly contributions as well. He recalled that Dr. Ruivah completed his Ph.D. research on Tangkhul Naga attire, a significant academic work that preserved and documented the rich cultural heritage of the Tangkhul Naga community.
Extending his heartfelt condolences to Achon Shatkhamla Ruivah, the children, and loved ones, Muivah bid farewell with a final tribute to Dr. Khashim Ruivah, recognizing his enduring legacy in Manipur’s history.
