Imphal, Feb 21:
Rajya Sabha MP Leishemba Sanajaoba cautioned that those responsible for the current crisis may face a massive public uprising once the truth is revealed. He questioned who would be able to control the people if such a movement erupted.
Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the International Mother Language Day celebration at GP College, the MP highlighted the extreme hardships faced by the people due to the ongoing crisis, which has persisted for nearly two years. He expressed concern over the excessive political maneuvering in the situation, stating that immediate unity and a consensus resolution are necessary to safeguard the people.
Sanajaoba also referred to recent reports of village defenders being arrested and suggested that people would soon begin tracing the root cause of these incidents. He implied that the circumstances leading to these arrests needed closer examination, though he refrained from providing further details.
The MP urged those involved in shaping the current situation to step forward and work collectively for a resolution. Without naming any individual, political figure, or civil society organization, he issued a stark warning that the consequences could be more severe than the June 18 uprising.
Sanajaoba reiterated his appeal for all parties to come together in the interest of the people, emphasizing the need for a collaborative effort to bring stability and peace to the state.
