A three-day workshop on the International Year of Quantum Science and Technology (IYQ) which began yesterday, at Manipur University continues. The workshop is organized by the Research Institute of Science and Technology (RIST), Manipur University, in collaboration with the Manipur Association of Science & Technology Council (MASTEC). It is sponsored by the State Bank of India.
The United Nations has declared 2025 as the International Year of Quantum Science and Technology to mark 100 years of Quantum Mechanics since the introduction of the ‘New Quantum Theory’ in 1925.
The inaugural function was held at the Conference Hall of the Physics Department, Manipur University. Secretary (Science and Technology), Government of Manipur, Kengoo Zuringla, IAS, attended as the Chief Guest. Professor A. Dilip Kumar Singh, Head of the Physics Department, and Professor Murli Manohar Verma, Dean of Research & Development Cell, Lucknow University, were the Guests of Honour. The session was presided over by Professor N. Nimai Singh, Chairman of the Organizing Committee and faculty member of the Physics Department, Manipur University.
On the first day, retired Professors of Manipur University, including Professor C. Amuba Singh, Professor Th. Jekendra Singh, Professor N. Rajmuhon Singh, and Professor Sh. Dorendrajit Singh, along with retired Associate Professor of Imphal College, S. Subhashchandra Singh, presented their papers in technical sessions.
