Railway affected landowners stage agitation in Noney

Members of the Railway Affected Landowners Association, Karuangmuan Nungtek Village, staged an agitation protesting alleged land encroachment at chainage numbers 87387–88500.
Carrying flex banners, the protesters raised slogans such as “No settlement, no work”, “Respect our Traditional Land Rights” and “Don’t suppress us in the name of development”. The agitators demanded immediate redress of their grievances and recognition of their traditional land ownership.
Association Chairman Forceson Khumba told reporters that a memorandum had been submitted to the Deputy Commissioner of Noney on January 30, 2026, highlighting the issue. He alleged that despite an ultimatum reportedly issued by the Railway authorities to resolve the matter by February 10, no concrete action had been taken.
Khumba stated that in the absence of a satisfactory settlement, the association would continue to prevent railway construction activities in the area. He warned that the agitation could intensify if authorities fail to address their concerns.
