Pukhrambam family institutes annual cash awards for meritorious students of Keishamthong High School

As a befitting tribute to the memory of late Pukhrambam Shyamkishore Singh, the former Principal of LMS Law College, Imphal, his family has instituted an annual cash award for the top three meritorious students of Keishamthong High School who excelled in the HSLC Examination. The awards were presented today during the Children’s Day celebration held at the school auditorium.
The first award of Rs 5,000, instituted in the name of late Pukhrambam Shyamkishore Singh, was given to Rajkumari Martina. The second award of Rs 3,000, instituted in the memory of late Pukhrambam Ongbi Shyama Devi, mother of Shyamkishore Singh, was won by Naorem Prijalakshmi. The third award instituted in the name of RK Sanatombi Devi, former Principal of Ibotonsana Girls’ Higher Secondary School and wife of late Shyamkishore Singh, was awarded to Arisana Irom.
Speaking on the occasion, RK Sanatombi Devi said that the family will continue the award every year as an encouragement to the students of Keishamthong High School. “I began my own education in this school, and today it has grown into a vibrant co-ed institution. My family and I felt it was time to contribute something meaningful for the welfare and motivation of the students,” she said.
The award presentation marked the Children’s Day function, which was attended by guests like Y. Hemchandra, ZEO Zone I, Government of Manipur; Meeni Sinam, DI School Zone I; RK Sanatombi, Retired Principal, Ibotonsana Higher Secondary School; and Salam Sunita, Headmistress, Keishamthong High School.
Keishamthong High School is recognized as one of the reputed Government schools in the state, which continues to receive numerous accolades from the School Education Department for its unbroken sequence of achievements in teaching and students’ performance. It is one of the few schools in Manipur that had managed to achieve 100% pass percentages in the HSLC Examination conducted by the Board of Secondary Education, Manipur, with a record number of first divisions.
Y. Hemchandra, speaking on the occasion, praised the hard work of the teachers and students to offer quality education and expressed appreciation for the Pukhrambam family’s contribution toward student welfare, especially in government schools.
The celebration ended with the students’ cultural performances, which added colour and cheer to the occasion as teachers and guests joined in applauding their efforts.
