Imphal, June 31: The 48-hours-long public curfew (July 30, 7PM to  August 1, 7PM)being imposed by Jiribam branch of Joint Action Committee on Inner Line Permit System (JCILPS) has largely  affected normal lives at Jiribam sub-division, under Imphal East.
Since all the business establishments remained closed market wore a deserted look; and the inter-district and state transport services were stopped during the curfew. Besides all educational institutions, government offices, post offices, banks and oil pumps were shut down at the area, according to reports.
A large number of pro-ILP supporters and volunteers of JCILPS, Jiribam branch sealed the only inter-state transit point of Manipur and Assam at Jirighat by blocking a bridge that connects the two states. However, no untoward incidents were reported from the area.
