Imphal July 28:
The Joint Action Committee (JAC) for the 2016-2018 MTS Education (S) written test candidates has demanded the prompt declaration of their exam results in a sit-in protest today at Keishampat Leimajam Leikai. Disabled candidate threaten suicide if the exam result are not declare.
The JAC highlighted that the Directorate of Education (S) had conducted written tests for 413 posts during 2016-18. However, despite multiple assurances from the Chief Minister, the results have not been released, leaving 26,000 candidates in limbo.
The JAC noted that the Chief Minister had promised action on at least seven to eight occasions, yet no progress has been made. The candidates have also complained that they are not being given appointments to meet the CM.
The situation is becoming increasingly dire as around 50% of the candidates are now at risk of exceeding the age limit for eligibility. The JAC has warned that if the results are not announced by the end of the current Manipur Assembly session on July 31, they will initiate a general strike and a hunger strike.
Pebam Govindchand Singh, Disabled Cell Convener of JAC, stated, “It has been eight years. The result is not out. If the result is not announced soon, then we will launch a hunger strike, and if they do not listen after that, we will commit suicide.”
The JAC urges the state government to address this issue immediately and fulfill its commitments to the candidates.
