Protest staged against SF threats to shoot an ex-PLA cadre

Women folk of Khongman Zone-III Mayai Leikai today staged a sit-in-protest against security forces threat to shoot an ex-PLA cadre who had quit the party some 20 years back.
As stated by the protestors, a combined team of Bishnupur Police Commando and Bihar Regiment posted at Nambol Maibam Lokpa Ching today came at the residence of one Lisam Bobo Singh (aged 46), son of L. Chaoba (aged 74) of Khongman Zone –III Mayai leikai at around 3 am in three vehicles including a CDO Gypsy number 27. Bobo is an ex-PLA cadre, he reportedly quit the organization about 20 years back and has been living a normal life by running a grocery shop at Khongman Zone –III area. After he was not found inside his residence the combined security troops went to the grocery shop and pulled him out of the shop. Local womenfolk popularly known as meira paibi were alerted and they prevented the security forces from taking him along with them.
Later, the security forces left but return back again after some 1 hour. They asked the Meira Paibis to produce Lisam Bobo. As the women folk resisted the security forces allegedly threatened to shoot the person by staging a fake encounter at anytime they found him.
Wrath over the attitude of the security forces the women folk of the area staged a sit-in-protest at Khongman Zone-3 Mayai Leikai Community hall.
A local Meira paibi said that Lisam Bobo had quit the party 20 years back and has been leading a normal life by running a grocery since then. She added that Bobo is now married and is survived by his wife and 2 daughters. She appealed the security force not to disturb him again.
