Principal sent to jail for molesting minor student

Imphal, June 15: The principal of a private school at Charangpat Mamang Leikai in Thoubal district was sent to judicial remand today on charges of molestation and coercive activities towards a minor who is a student of the same school.
According to reports, the accused identified as Samjetsabam Sanjit Singh was produced before the court of the Thoubal district session judge in connection with a complaint lodged against him for sexual harassment, physical abuse and making threats by using a gun on a Class VIII student who was staying at the hostel of the school – Sacrifice and True Education Mission (SATEM).  
The accused appeared at the court on June 13 for the first time and he was awarded a three-day remand. Today is the second hearing of the case.
The minor victim was rescued from the hostel by a team of Thoubal Women Police Station led by officer-in-charge Sheitabati based on an official complaint filed by Women in Governance, Wangjing whose staffs along with those of Child Line Thoubal accompanied the police.
She is in the care of Child Welfare Committee, Thoubal since June 7 last, according to reports.
