The proscribed outfit People’s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK) has expressed serious concern over what it described as a rise in flesh trade in Manipur and has issued a warning to those allegedly involved to immediately stop such activities.
In a press statement issued by Mangal Khuman, Publicity Officer of the Department of Publicity and Propaganda of PREPAK, the outfit claimed that its internal investigation had revealed the involvement of a group of individuals in the flesh trade of young girls and married women in recent days. The statement alleged that the organisation possesses information regarding the modus operandi used for trafficking women for sexual exploitation.
According to the statement, one such alleged activity was carried out from a rented house at Mantripukhri. PREPAK named Thingbaijam Thoihenba alias Ibungo Singh, son of Indrajit Singh, Sundari of Irom Meijao Mamang Leikai, Rebiya Leimapokpam, daughter of Jilangamba of Konjeng Leikai Kouna Thabi, and Tektek alias Juliya, daughter of Bungcha alias Premkumar Sougrakpam of Irom Meijao Maning Leikai, as persons allegedly involved.
The statement further claimed that Thingbaijam Thoihenba alias Ibungo Singh and Rebiya Leimapokpam were caught red-handed by local club members on 18 January 2026 while allegedly engaging in immoral activities inside a white Maruti Swift vehicle at Irom Meijao Maning Leikai.
PREPAK warned the named individuals to surrender to the outfit by 31 January 2026, failing which, it stated, they would face severe punishment.
The outfit also claimed that the rise of such activities was a reflection of what it described as moral decay under the prevailing social and political conditions in the state. It alleged that crimes against women, including sexual exploitation and violence, have been increasing in Manipur in recent years, linking the situation to broader issues of social insecurity and erosion of traditional values.
In the statement, PREPAK referred to past incidents involving violence against women and senior citizens to underline what it termed as a breakdown of social order. It further claimed that such developments were a result of political and social instability and warned that continued inaction would lead to further deterioration of social harmony.
The statement called upon women and community elders to remain vigilant and take a stronger role in protecting social values, while reiterating its opposition to activities that, it claimed, undermine the dignity and safety of women in Manipur.
