The People’s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK) has confirmed that one of its Red Army cadres, Nongthombam Malemnganba alias Thonglen, was killed during a joint operation carried out by Indian Army Special Forces and KNA-B on August 30, 2025, at around 11:49 a.m.
According to a statement issued by Mangal Khuman, Publicity Officer of PREPAK’s Department of Publicity and Propaganda, the operation involved the use of drones and targeted bombing in the border areas. PREPAK alleged that coordinated tactics were employed by Indian security forces and allied groups, leading to the death of Malemnganba, who was serving as an officer in the outfit’s Red Army.
The organisation described the 27-year-old cadre as a determined fighter who fought until his last breath. A resident of Awang Wabagai, Malemnganba was the fourth son of Nongthombam Shyamkeshor Meitei and Nongthombam Ongbi Nongngallei Leima. PREPAK stated that he had joined the party after being affected by the events of May 3, 2023, which the outfit described as genocide and ethnic cleansing allegedly carried out by Kuki militant groups.
After joining PREPAK, Malemnganba reportedly completed the 58th Military Basic Training of the Red Army and was enrolled under Army No. 2555814. The group said he was known for his discipline, intelligence, and dedication to the party’s principles, and was actively involved in the operations of his assigned unit.
The statement further noted that Malemnganba had carried out his duties with commitment and was considered a courageous and promising fighter by the organisation. PREPAK maintained that his sacrifice would be remembered as a noble contribution to what it described as the national liberation struggle, adding that his legacy would continue to inspire both comrades and future generations.
