PREPAK claims blast at Wangoo in Kakching district

Imphal, Feb 21:

Proscribed group People Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK) has claimed responsibility for the blast that injured two personnel of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) at Wangoo Lupa Marup area in Kakching district at around 8 pm yesterday.
The ITBP has been stationing at Wangoo High School as election duty. The incident happened when the troop were patrolling the area.
As per a statement of the PREPAK two IED were planted, but only one exploded. It said that had both the IED blasted as per plan there could have been more casualties on the side of the Indian troopers.
The PREPAK said that the blast was triggered by Special Task Force C of the Red Army, the armed wing of the revolutionary group. It further added that the attack was carried out in connection with the boycott called by the CORCOM to the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in connection with the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly Election scheduled to hold on February 28 and March 5. It appealed to the people not to support the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
In the IED attack, two riflemen of the ITBP identified as Girja Shankar and Gaurab Rai both below 30 years old from Uttarkhand.
