PPCM organises march past at Palace Compound

Imphal, Aug 14: Protection and Preservation Committee Manipur (PPCM) today observed the 70th Independence Day of Manipur at Palace Compound. A March Past was organised in connection with the observance and Titular King of Manipur Leishemba Sanajaoba recieved the march past salute. Several leaders of the civil society organisation also attended the Independence day observation.
Speakers on the occasion highlighted on the importance of observing the day stating that the Manipuris need to show the world that we were once an independent kingdom of the South East Asia. The objective of organising the day is also to recall that Manipur was an Independent Kingdom and it become a part of India after its merger to the Indian Union in October 15, 1949.
