Power surge in Churachandpur damages homes, devices burst

Residents of Kamdouveng in Churanchandpur town of Manipur faced serious problems last night after a transformer was reportedly changed in the area. Many phone chargers, laptop chargers, refrigerator connections, and WiFi connectors were damaged or burst due to a strong electric current supplied from the transformer.
“Some phone chargers even caught fire, while a kitchen light bulb exploded. Residents also fear that fans and other household appliances are now at risk of damage in Kamdouveng. The incident occurred around 1:50 am this morning,” said Lun Samte, Editor of Zogam Today.
“The light bulb in my kitchen also burst,” he added. “I hadn’t slept yet, so I was able to check it. If I had been asleep, something dangerous could have happened. Not only mine, many residents also reported similar incidents.”
Residents have been advised to switch off lights, televisions, refrigerators, and other electrical appliances during the night as a safety precaution.
The concerned authority is urged to immediately take necessary action to prevent further damage and ensure the safety of the residents.
