Police took Rs 700 for release of student

While the pro-ILP protestors are fuming against the alleged misconducts of state police during the ongoing demand for Inner Line Permit System (ILPS), personnel of Kwakeithel Police outpost has reportedly took Rs 700 from two students in exchange of their release.
The incident was happened on Saturday morning at around 9.30 when two students namely Wahengbam Jankinath of Kumbi and Laishram Hemanta of Heirok, who were currently staying at SK Hostel, Kwaikeithel Thounaojam Leikai, were coming out from their hostel to purchase some goods at Kwakeithel bazaar.
While speaking to Imphal Times, Wahengbam Jankinath said that the police took them at the station and detained for some time with false charges.  They were threatened to arrest in the charge of destroying public properties and causing disturbance during the ILP movement.
A Sub-Inspector, who is also the in-charge of the outpost, demanded them to give Rs 1000 each if they want to go home, Jankinath said, and he added that after requesting for long time they negotiated to pay Rs 700 as bribe in exchange of their release. They were released only after paying the bribe.
They condemned the incident and request the concern authority to take action against the police personnel.
