Police claims arrest of active PREPAK (Pro) member

A team of Special Commando Unit, Khabeisoi, arrested an active member of the proscribed outfit PREPAK (Pro) during a routine frisking and checking operation near Tejpur Chingarel area early this morning.
The operation, which began around 9:00 a.m., was led by Subedar L. Bebekananda Singh, Officer Commanding, Special CDO Unit, under the overall supervision of Dr. S. Ibomcha Singh, MPS, Commanding Officer of the 6th IRB and in-charge of the Special Commando Unit, Khabeisoi. The action was carried out based on specific intelligence inputs provided by the 4th Assam Rifles.
During the course of frisking and checking, the personnel noticed an individual approaching on foot from the direction of Seijang towards Imphal in a suspicious manner. Acting on instinct, the team detained him for on-the-spot verification.
The individual identified himself as Ingudam Ingocha Singh alias Borobi, aged about 48 years, son of (L) I. Megho Singh, a resident of Seijang Makha Leikai, Imphal East District, Manipur – 795106.
Upon further questioning, the detained individual confessed to being an active member of the banned underground organization PREPAK (Pro). According to his statement, he joined the outfit in 2021 under the command of one Malem Nungoi, an alleged self-styled commander of the group from Phogakchai Village in Bishnupur District.
Ingocha also disclosed that he is assigned to the organization’s operations division and is tasked with logistical support, including the transportation and delivery of arms, ammunition, food supplies, and other essential items to cadres operating in and around the areas of Seijang, Lamlai, and Yaingangpokpi.
He was formally arrested at around 10:31 a.m. near Daina Departmental Store, Tejpur Chingarel, based on his voluntary admission and the sensitive nature of his affiliations and activities.
The arrested individual was subsequently handed over to the concerned police station for the initiation of further necessary legal procedures. Authorities have stated that an investigation is underway to trace his network and involvement in subversive activities in the region.
