Imphal, April 2:
A team of Manipur police apprehended a cadre of the proscribed outfit KCP (Taibanganba) identified as Loitongbam Boyai Singh (43) in Thoubal district yesterday. The arrest was made in connection with his involvement in extortion activities within the general area of Yaripok-Nongpok Sekmai, a police source sad.
During the subsequent search operation, law enforcement officials seized a cache of weapons and other items from Singh’s possession. The confiscated items included 1 pistol, 10 live ammunitions, 1 hand grenade with 1 detonator, Rs. 3000 in cash, 1 mobile phone, and 1 Bolero vehicle.
A case has been registered against the accused for further investigation into the matter.
In a concerted effort to maintain law and order across Manipur, a series of search operations and naka checkings were conducted. A total of 129 Nakas/Checkpoints were set up in various districts of Manipur, encompassing both hill and valley regions. As a result, the police detained 343 individuals in connection with various violations observed on April 1st.
