Pioneer leader Hijam Irabot and Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar remembered

Imphal, Sept 29: The 2nd observance of Lamyanba Hijam Irabot and Bharat Ratna Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar, 2016 along with the presentation of awards, certification of excellence, discussion as well as Sheireng Sheidannaba was held today at Manipur Press Club.
The observance was organised by The Dalit Sahitya Academy Manipur (India).
Speaking at the function, Dr Thokchom Meinya, Member of Parliament of Lok Sabha said that the vision which Hijam Irabot had must not be forgotten easily by today’s generation. Idea of a significant place for North East states and Asia country was one of the visions Hijam Irabot had, he added.
Dr Thokchom Meinya also said that history cannot be re-write but an understanding among the social member is required to bring social equality. Issues of the hills, valleys and different communities have the same thoughts but unfortunately the same thoughts can be seen falling apart due to time and situation, he added.
Dr Thokchom Meinya further said that it cannot be wrong to mention that some development has be seen in the state after Manipur merge into India and became part of it though what had happen in the history cannot be re-written.
Culture and tradition must preserve to maintain the status of one’s state.
Looking at the human needs, social calls there seems to have the only option for demand driven policy for Manipur and Indian states.
Now it is time to think carefully before getting into any conclusion which do not have any positive result and one must not forget how long we the Manipuris struggle for our Manipuri Language ot be included in the 8th Schedule of the Indian Constitutions, he added.
Tm Rajen Ayangba, President of Japanese Hospital, Manipur, Moirangthem Naokhomba Meetei, Luching Purel-Meelal of Kangleipak and Y Mahendrakumar Singh, National Secretary of Dalit Sahitya Academy attended the function.
The function windup with the book released, souvenirs and presentation of awards to distinguished Dalit Workers and Eminent with Scholars.
