Phungyo Baptist Church (PBC), the Mother Church of Manipur Tangrei, Ukhrul, celebrated Advent Christmas on Sunday evening under the theme “Rejoice Greatly” (Zechariah 9:9). The event was a beautiful blend of worship, reflection, and unity, with a congregation of all ages gathering to honor the significance of the season.
The celebration began at 6:30 PM in a church filled with excitement and anticipation. The evening offered both solemn spiritual devotion and festive cheer, creating an atmosphere that resonated deeply with those in attendance. A highlight of the event was the musical performances by renowned Tangkhul artists, such as Enoli, Yursari Kasomwoshi, and Eli Chungsangla Jajo. Their soul-stirring songs filled the church with divine peace and joy, while the PBYs Worship Team led the congregation in heartfelt worship.
A choreographed performance and a skit titled “The Weavers Show” also captivated the audience. The skit conveyed a powerful message about the importance of making wise choices and protecting the younger generation from moral pitfalls and materialism. Additionally, Enoli. Tharmishon N. Rungsung, TBCS Women Secretary, delivered an inspiring message centered on humanity’s fall, the promise of the Messiah, and the joyous birth of Jesus Christ. Her words, coupled with scripture readings, emphasized the themes of hope, peace, love, and joy that define the Advent season.
A memorable moment of the evening was the surprise gift distribution, where thoughtful presents were given to everyone, from babies to the elderly, symbolizing the true spirit of Christmas—sharing and kindness. This act of giving highlighted the importance of community and togetherness.
The Advent Christmas celebration at PBC reminded all that Christmas is more than festive decorations—it is a time to embrace God’s love and share it with others, carrying forward the message of hope, love, and peace.
