Pen down strike affects academic atmosphere at Kakching Higher Secondary

The ongoing pen down strike launched by teachers appointed in 2018 has severely disrupted academic activities at Kakching Higher Secondary School, particularly affecting students studying English and Manipuri subjects. The strike, which began on July 21, demands the completion of the regularisation process and the disbursement of entitled salaries and allowances for higher secondary lecturers with effect from March 1, 2023
A student from the school expressed concern over the situation, stating that the continued strike might result in the syllabus not being completed in time. The student urged the authorities to reach an understanding with the agitating teachers to ensure normal classes resume at the earliest.
Nongmaithem Sunita, Vice Principal of Kakching Higher Secondary School, confirmed that the strike has significantly disturbed the academic atmosphere. She said that although ten teachers have recently been regularized, the departments of English and Manipuri remain critically affected, making it difficult to conduct regular classes.
She appealed to the concerned authorities to resolve the matter amicably and ensure that the academic interests of the students are not compromised.
