The Patriotic Writers Forum (PAWF) Manipur, in collaboration with Narayan Khamar Apunba Lup, Tripura, observed the 33rd Narayan Khamar Memorial Day today. The event was held at Narayan Khamar in Tripura for preserving and promoting Meetei culture and language.
The event was attended by Naoroibam Khamba Luwang, President of PAWF Manipur, Langoljam Biramangal, President of Manipuri Sahitya Parishad Tripura, and social activist Kshetrimayum Joykishore. The speakers highlighted the significance of the Meetei heritage and the need to safeguard it from external influences.
The gathering condemned recent developments that threaten the cultural identity of the Meetei people, stressing the importance of preserving the Meetei language, script, and traditions.
The PAWF emphasized that this observance serves as a reminder of the ongoing struggle to maintain Meetei identity in the face of modern challenges. They called on all Meetei people, both in Manipur and across the diaspora, to continue their efforts in preserving their cultural legacy.
The event also featured cultural performances, including Thang Ta, traditional dances, and songs, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the Meetei community.
