Passengers of Indigo 743 flight which was coming from Delhi and Guwahati were taken by surprise after the flight which was supposed to land suddenly took off again and spin at the air for nearly minutes. The incident happened at around 11.30 am yesterday. Some passengers of the flight while speaking to Imphal Times said that the flight captain announced “the runway is not available for us” and later said, “We are taking going round, we will try landing in 7/8 minutes”. While the flight remained spinning in the air some of the passengers sawed another plane on the runway trying to take off.
The incident is a sign of serious communication gap between the Airport authority and those in the flight, opined a passenger.
The matter is serious, and the kind of incident could have created a major catastrophe had it not been the alertness of the pilot.
When Imphal Times talk about this matter Janam Jaya Rao, Director of the Imphal Airport Authority he denied any such incident taken place yesterday. When asked on why the flight which was supposed to land had to take off all of a sudden, and why the pilot has to announce that the runway is not clear, Mr.Rao said that taking off by flight at the time of landing is a normal happening and no communication gap occurred.
